BOSTON — Tommy Pham is out of the lineup for the third straight game, but he’s available off the bench Sunday night against the Boston Red Sox. The Mets do not plan on placing him on the injured list because MRIs are not showing any sort of damage that would lead them to believe this injury will require the outfielder to take 10 or more days off. However, they did just play two games with a short bench. The injury occurred the day before the All-Star break in San Diego, which was two weeks ago.“He’s getting there,” manager Buck Showalter said Sunday afternoon at Fenway Park before the series finale against the Red Sox. “He’s a lot more available than what he had been.”Pham did not travel to Boston with the team Thursday night, instead staying back in New York to have the groin evaluated again. With dew points climbing back towards about 70-degrees that means the apparent temperature is going to likely exceed 100-degrees for portions of metro west,” Kristie Smith, a meteorologist with the NWS, told the Herald on Sunday.According to Smith the weather service hasn’t yet issued any heat advisories for those days but by Monday or Tuesday they’ll most likely issue warning against prolonged outdoor activity and a...

Rice is a staple for billions of people around the world but India has imposed a ban on the export of non-Basmati white rice products. A Toronto South Asian grocery store says it is already feeling the pinch, leading to a spike in panic buying. “What happened in the last couple of days, it’s only a panic purchase,” Salam Hasan, general manager at Mississauga’s Iqbal Halal Foods, tells CityNews. “We used to have enough for three to four weeks. If you think about one month – banning the export of a particular item – remember, there are a lot of containers at sea coming our way.” According to Sriram Ramamurthy, the business development manager overseeing rice imports at...
